The young trumpeter, born in Venezuela to a family of musicians, began his musical studies at the Vicente Emilio Sojo Conservatory of Music in Barquisimeto with professors Gary Núñez and Alfredo D’addona. He has been a member of the National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras of Venezuela since he was eleven years old, when he joined the Doralisa de Medina Children‘s Orchestra. Later, in 2002, Gutiérrez joined the Youth Orchestra of Lara. He is a founding member of the Lara Brass Ensemble, with which he performed nationally and internationally (Portugal in 2008 and Spain in 2009).
He has attended trumpet courses at festivals such as the Spanish Brass Festival —in the city of Alzira in 2011—, the Italian Brass Week in 2012, and the Schagerl Brass Festival in 2014 with maestros of international stature such as Allen Vizzutti, “Pacho” Flores, Max Sommerhalder, Gabor Tarkovi, Rex Richardson, Andrea Toffanelli, Luis González, Joe Burgsteller, Tiger Okoshi, Charles Lewis and James Morrison; as well as with renowned ensembles including the Mnozil Brass, the Spanish Brass Luur Metalls, the Canadian Brass, and the Empire Brass, among others. Gutiérrez entered —by competitive audition— the Latin American Trumpet Academy, where he studied with Giancarlo Castro and Max Sommerhalder. In 2013, Gutiérrez was invited to play Richard Wagner’s Tannhäuser with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and Gustavo Dudamel in Bogotá, Colombia.
