The Miami Music Festival from around the World was created by S. FL Friends of Classical Music, a non-profit organization to encourage and support classical music performances and the musical heritage of countries around the world. The annual Festival features an extensive array of academic, traditional and folk music from diverse cultures performed by acclaimed world-class artists.
The multi-concert events strive to give audience members an international musical experience by showcasing the authentic and varying musical styles the differing cultures have to offer. The festival also boasts a series of Lectures dedicated to the advancement and understanding of the different cultures of the world, exploring the music of a particular region, its culture, its folklore, or a musical genre, this all comes together in a series that is uniquely diverse. The multi-cultural lectures strive to give an understanding of the pivotal events, celebrity figures, central ideas and defining worldviews that have shaped major episode in cultural history. The festival also offers either free or low-cost ticket prices, thus making the event accessible to all who wish to attend, many of which are family friendly.

An evening of Chamber music with world-class artists introduced the fisrt concert of the VI Festival. Orquesta Nostalgia, a 13 piece Mambo band transported listeners to the era of dance, swing and showmanship of the Mambo era. The Sounds of Movies was a concert with live Symphony Orchestra and screen visuals performing along with exclusive film footage, music from Jaws, Superman, Starwars and more! Flute & Electronics performed by the Bonacossa-Eisenreich Duo presented eclectic programs of music ranging from classical to folk and experimental. Venezuela in Concert was a posthumous tribute offered to Maestro José Antonio Abreu, father of "El Sistema" who died on March 24 of 2018.
Miami Soundscape presented the original compositions of some of the brightest composers around town, who bring the avant-garde music tradition to life through adventurous programming. Sounds of Video Games was back! Full orchestra and choir performed along with exclusive videogames footage, a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience. Virtuoso violinist Eric Silberger (Tchaikovsky Competition prizewinner) joined acclaimed cellist Julian Schwarz & pianist Adolfo Vidal for an evening of chamber music. Young Talents Unleashed showcased music, poetry and art by gifted homeschool students. Opus Praise was back with an all-Christmas program.
Accomplished musicians of the Miami Chamber Players played an all Brahms concert. Sounds of Video Games dazzled the audience with complete synchronized cutting-edge video screen visuals, state-of-the-art lighting, full chorus and live symphony orchestra to feature music from the greatest video games of all time. A Celebration of Italian Opera and Zarzuela brought together 18 professional singers on stage. 'Monster Piano Explosion 2' brought back more than 20 concert pianists on stage to hear piano solos, four-hands, and dueling two pianos. The last concert introduced Opus Praise, a group of classical-trained musicians who fuse Sacred & Praising Music.
Festival included famous Hungarian composer Bartok sonata for two pianos and percussion with NWS fellows. Percussion & Dance ensemble Venus Rising was back with a new program "One Pulse - One Beat", through rhythm and movement, Venus Rising strives to empower individuals to break barriers by celebrating diversity. "Women in Opera" presented some of the most famous duets, trios and ravishing arias from the vast female operatic repertoire from Italy. Monster Piano Explosion, a piano marathon recital featured the talent and showed off some of the best pianists living in South FL with more than 20 most accomplished pianists on stage.
The II Miami World Music Festival showcased Grammy award winner Nestor Torres on the flute, guitarist Rafael Padron with the compositions of French composer Claude Bolling. "Estampas de Zarzuela"a musical show that presented a selection of the most well-known romances and duets of the beautiful zarzuelas 'Luisa Fernanda' and 'Las Leandras' from Spain. The talented Venus Rising, a group of women percussionists and dancers explored West African, Caribbean, Brazilian and Middle Eastern rhythms, movements and songs. Renown Venezuelan singer and song-writer Luz Marina with Saul Vera on the bandola llanera performed music of Venezuela. And last, music of North India, in charge of tabla player Jeff Deen and violinist Vicki Richards.
The I Festival in 2012 presented five concerts representing music of Germany, Cuba, Spain, Russia & Argentina, with an all-star and world-renowned line up of guest artists that included pianists Kemal Gekic and Margarita Shevchenko performing works of Rachmaninoff. Latin timba band Tiempo Libre, hot off its third Grammy nomination for “Best Tropical Album” for Bach in Havana. Argentinian superstar, bandoneon player Hector del Curto and Eternal Tango trio, performed from traditional Argentinian tangos to the ingenious music of Piazzolla with Alon Yavnai on the piano and Jisoo Ok on the cello. Also on the Festival the Miami Guitar Trio, and the exceptional musicians of the Miami Chamber Players, among others.
